A TOTAL of 100 shallow tube wells (STWs) and engines were distributed to Kapampangan farmers by NIA Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (PamBat IMO) in Floridablanca, Pampanga.
The distribution aims to provide irrigation water supply to farmlands and increase rice production, according to PamBat IMO.
Irrigators Associations (IAs) and farmers from the municipalities of Porac, Lubao, Guagua, Sta. Rita, and Floridablanca are the beneficiaries of the said program. This initiative shows NIA’s commitment to providing essential resources for irrigation.
The STWs are expected to enhance the irrigation capacity of IAs, ensuring more efficient water distribution in their respective service areas. Through this, better rice production and cropping intensity can be attained, thus increasing agricultural output and farmers’ income.
Senate Committee on Finance Chairperson Senator Imee R. Marcos, Pampanga 2nd District Representative Hon. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, NIA Central Luzon Regional Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar, NIA Pambat IMO Division Manager Engr. Ruben R. Llamas, Floridablanca Councilor Darren O. Manalansan, representative from the Office of the Municipal Mayor, and Vice Mayor Michael L. Galang were present in the event.
Last week, Senator Marcos presided over the Senate Budget Hearing for NIA’s FY 2025 Proposed Budget. She continuously supports NIA’s programs to strengthen the agricultural sector and enhance irrigation infrastructure across the nation.
NIA’s efforts to improve irrigation systems contributes to the nation’s food security. It is a testament to the Agency’s broader mission of strengthening agricultural infrastructure and promote sustainable farming practices.
