PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Manila Mayor Isko Moreno thanked the members of the media and vloggers, supporters and volunteers “for being part of my journey.”
Moreno expressed gratitude after he cast his vote at the Magat Salamat Elementary School in Tondo at around 11 a.m. Before this, he made a Church visit.
Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, who voted earlier at the Legarda Elementary School, also thanked the media and vloggers for showcasing all that Moreno and she have done for Manila during their three-year partnership as mayor and vice mayor, respectively.
Lacuna also called for fairness when asked to comment about reports of massive vote-buying by her rivals in Districts 4 and 5.
While voting, Lacuna experienced a slight problem when her ballot was ejected during her first try to enter it through the vote counting machine. It went through without glitches on her second try.
For his part, Moreno said that his presidential run made him realize how many Filipinos are experiencing abject poverty in the provinces.
“Nagulat ako dahil marami pala talaga ang gusto ay ‘peace of mind.’ Sana palarin tayo ng Diyos na matapos ang halalang ito na matahimik, mapayapa at matagumpay,” he said.
“Kung sakaling palarin tayo, bibigyan ko kayo ng kapanatagan, di ko kayo ipapahiya makaka move on tayo nang mabilis,” Moreno said, as he also wished his political rivals good luck and good health.
During his campaign sorties, Moreno said he was saddened to find out that a lot of Filipinos in the provinces have been neglected in terms of basic necessities like power and water supply.
“Napagkaitan ng progreso yung mga kababayan natin sa iba’t-ibang dako ng bansa sad to say, but true. Tama ang desisyon ko na tumakbong Presidente nang magkaroon naman ng opsyon ang mg,a tao bukod sa awayang pula at dilaw,” Moreno said.
The mayor also expressed profuse thanks to his volunteers, supporters, the members of the media, “for being part of my journey.” (Baby Cuevas)
