WALANG naiulat na malaking insidenten ng karahasan sa panahon ng Pasko sa kabila ng kawalan ng ceasefire sa pagitan ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) maliban sa maikling sagupaan na ikinamatay ng isang New People’s Army remnant na gustong patampukin ang kanilang 54th founding anniversary sa Zamboanga del Sur.
Ayon kay AFP spokesperson, Col. Medel Aguilar, isang mapayapang pagdiriwang ng Pasko ang naganap ngayong taon at walang karahasan o napaulat na kalupitan na ginawa ng Communist Party of the Philippines -New People’s Army.
Sa inilabas na pahayag ng AFP, “kabaliwan” para sa Communist Party of the Philippines at sa armadong galamay nitong New People’s Army o NPA kung maniniwala sila na makakamit nilang pabagsakin ang gobyerno ng ating bansa .
Kaya naman, hinimok ni Aguilar ang publiko na makipagtulungan sa gobyerno para wakasan ang communist insurgency dito sa Pilipinas, patuloy na sa pagbagsak bunsod ng inaabot na “strategic losses” mula sa government forces
Sa pagdiriwang ng 87th AFP anniversary inihayag AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen Bartolome Vicente Bacarro na ; “We can confidently state that we have achieved strategic victory and are inching closer to total victory against these terrorists”.
“Our localized peace-building efforts, with multi-stakeholder and whole-of-nation approach, also yielded positive results, as we encouraged enemies of the state to return to the fold of the law and built goodwill with communities,” pahayag pa ni LtGen Bacarro.
“Soon, we will unveil a new campaign plan that will set the stage for the attainment of genuine unity, synergy, and peace for our country. Rest assured that we remain hard at work, operationally and strategically, in sustaining the gains made this year,” dagdag pa ni CSAFP.
