PURSUANT to a complaint filed against them before the National Police Commission (Napolcom), a total of seven policemen from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) were ordered relieved by Manila Police District (MPD) Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Abad.

Abad also said that the seven cops will be reporting to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) and according to Abad, even as administrative charges have also been filed against them while an investigation is underway.

Those relieved included a police major, two master sergeants, two staff sergeants, a corporal and a patrolman.

Napolcom Commissioner Atty. Vicente Calinisan directed the MPD to act on the matter after receiving the complaint from a certain ‘Omeng’, who said tjat he and his friend were arrested, handcuffed and detained from 3 p.m. of September 9 up to 1 a.m. of the following day.

Omeng said he managed to escape but only after the cops allegedly took the P9,000 from his GCash account and the motorcycle of his friend.

Certain discrepancies between the sworn statement of the victims and the police report meanwhile were noted by authorities.

The police report claimed that the victims were nabbed for illegal drugs on September 10.
