NAGSAGAWA ng ocular inspection sa Bureau of Customs (BOC) kahapon sina Senators Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian at Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito kasama ang ilang key officials at members ng Senate Committee on Ways and Means (SCWM) at Senate Tax Study and Research Office (STSRO) para busisiin ang modernization program na ipinatutupad ng Aduana.
Pinangunahan ni Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz ang ginawang walk-throughs sa Customs Customer Care Center (CCC), X-ray Inspection Program (XIP) at Customs Operations Center (COC ) para masilip ang kanilang modernization program.
Nagsagawa rin ng briefing hinggil sa Customs Processing Systems, BOC Dashboard, Electronic Value Reference Information System (eVRIS), Philippine Customs Modernization Program (PCMP) at Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program ang mga key officials ng BOC.
Nabatid kay Commissioner Ruiz na 91% ng mga proseso sa Aduana ay fully-automated na at ngayong taon ay ipinatupad ng BOC ang anim pang karagdagang digitization projects.
Layunin ng dalawang senador at ilang miyembro ng Senate Committee on Ways and Means at Senate Tax Study and Research Office na malaman at makita ang mga hakbang ng Customs sa gitna ng mga ulat na pagdagsa sa bansa ng mga produktong smuggled.
Nais ng mga senador na matugunan ang problema sa pagpasok ng mga smuggled products lalo na ngayong magpa-Pasko at dagsa ang mga mamimili.
Mismong si Commissioner Ruiz ang nakasama nila kung saan ipinakita nito ang Customs Customer Care Center (CCC), X-ray Inspection Program (XIP) at ang Customs Operations Center (COC) na pangunahing tanggapan ng kanilang ahensya na siyang pumipigil sa pagpasok ng mga smuggled products sa bansa.
Kaugnay nito, nagpahayag naman ng suporta ang mga senador sa programang modernisasyon ng BOC dahil makatutulong ito sa pagpigil ng smuggling sa bansa.
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. is adamant to his mandate of the eight-point socioeconomic agenda – the emphasis of which being the prioritization of ensuring sound macroeconomic fundamentals by improving bureaucratic efficiency and ensuring sound fiscal management as well as enhancing the digital economy,” ani Ruiz.
