PINAGSABIHAN ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia si Mocha Uson, kandidatong konsehal sa Maynila sa ilalim ng tiket ni Isko Monreo, dahil sa paggamit ng campaign jingle na “sexually- suggestive” o may temang tungkol sa sex.
Ayon sa liham na ipinadala ng Task Force SAFE ng Comelec at pirmado ni Garcia mismo, binanggit na bagama’t ang layunin ng kampanya ay makuha ang atensiyon ng mga botante, dapat na maging direkta ang mensahe nila sa mga botante imbis na gumamit ng jingle na bumoborder sa pagiging malaswa.
“Puns and double meanings may be used as literary devices in campaigns, but we hope that these are used not to distract from your political platform or skirt the line between accepted speech and obscenity, as we are in the context of elections,” anang Comelec.
Partikular na pinuna ng Comelec ang lyrics ng campaign jingle ni Mocha na, “Cookie ni Mocha, ang sarap-sarap” at “Ang cookie ni Mocha, bawat kagat, may malasakit at saya.”
“Sexually suggestive elements in your campaign can detract from the serious discussions we need to have about policy, governance and the future of our communities,” saad pa ng Comelec.
Ayon naman kay Uson, “We are currently reviewing all our content to ensure that it aligns with the standards of decency and appropriateness expected in public discourse and electoral engagement.”
