THERE is no report of any possible entry of the virus from Japan into the Philppines.

MIAA spokesman and head executive assistant Atty. Chris Noel Bendijo said that the Bureau of Quarantine (BoQ) that monitors arriving passengers at the NAIA Terminals have not reported any such entry.

On orders of airport general manager Eric Ines, the BoQ has also been requested to immediately report any possibility that the virus called, streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS) may have already entered the country, Bendijo said.

He also said that while recently, signs have been put in the NAIA Terminals encouraging the wearing of face masks, such is not mandatory is only voluntary.

Bendijo said it is a mere reminder that wearing face masks ensures better safety specially with the threat of the virus from Japan.

The MIAA is also encouraging passengers to practice the usual health protocols done during the pandemic such as frequent washing of hands, distancing and covering of the mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing,he added.

Bendijo is also assuring passengers that the MIAA is constantly in touch with the BoQ while it continously monitors arriving passengers not only from Japan but all other countries, for possible virus symptoms.
