“We conducted an investigation regarding this sensational surge in social media reporting of crimes and we found out that most of these incidents were either false or were previously reported cases already categorized as “solved” in our data base”,ayon kay Estomo.
“Actual data will not lie against mere social media hype. Indeed, we do not deny that crimes occur. But the problem lies in exaggeratedly highlighting them in various platforms as if they reflect the totality of the actual peace and order situation casting into shadow the fact that these crimes were either already being attended to by the police or were previous occurrences already solved in the past,”dagdag pa ni Marcos.
“We will not be lax in our laurels despite the continuing downtrend in crime occurrence. Sustainable efforts and initiatives geared to further bolster the continuing decrease of crime occurrence were being implemented and invigorated to ensure that the community is safe and orderly.” dagdag ni Estomo.
(Carl Angelo)
