WOMAN IN SUICIDE TRY AT NAIA TERMINAL 1

PERSONNEL from the PNP-Aviation Security Group and the airport security guards and police stopped a 30-year-old woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping from the departure curbside near the flagpole of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 yesterday noon.

Members of the PNP-Aviation Security Group, airport policemen and security guards who were at the scene said they heard a woman shouting at the ledge of NAIA terminal 1 curbside, while apparently preparing to jump.

While security personnel talked to her and tried to pacify her, other security personnel pulled her down and grabbed her away from the ledge.

The woman resisted being taken off from the ledge and even broke her cellphone. She was identified only when she was brought to the NAIA terminal 1 medical clinic where she signed her name at the logbook. Her name is being withheld pending investigation.

Doctors who initially examined her said she is suffering from depression. She was later turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Baltao near NAIA Terminal 1 after treatment. (Baby Cuevas)
