TWO WANTED ALIENS NABBED AT NAIA

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that its officers and agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted two foreigners for having spurious documents and despite having criminal records.

In a statement, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the arrested aliens consisted of a Chinese national and a Korean national who were intercepted at the NAIA on separate occasions.

Tansingco both are currently detained at the BI’s detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig pending deportation proceedings.

“We commend our personnel at the airport for their continued vigilance in guarding our borders against the entry of undesirable aliens. They are doing a splendid job as gatekeepers of our country,” the BI chief said.

On Feb. 13, a Chinese passenger identified as Wang Yiwei was arrested after arriving aboard an Air Asia flight from Bangkok.

Wang is said to be wanted by authorities in China where he was criminally charged for involvement in illegal gambling.

On Feb. 22, a Japanese passenger identified as Yuki Nakamata was intercepted before he could board his flight to Singapore.

The BI-BCIU said Yakamata is subject of a deportation case before the BI and is reportedly a fugitive wanted for violating Japan’s act regulating the receipts of contributions, deposits and interest rates. (JERRY S. TAN)
