FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, General David H. Berger USMC, and his staff visited the Headquarters Philippine Marine Corps (HPMC) at Marine Barracks Rudiardo Brown, this city, on September 5, 2022.
Gen. Berger was welcomed with a military honor led by the PMC Commandant, MGen. Charlton Sean M. Gaerlan PN(M). Both parties talked about continuing collaborative efforts to strengthen their partnership, including implementing the combined Integrated Readiness Plan. This involves conducting military exercises, enhancing mutual defense systems, harnessing marine security, and establishing rapid mobility in an archipelagic environment. The PMC and the US Marine Corp Forces, Pacific plan to develop an integrated combined operating framework to align their activities.
Gen. Berger affirmed the importance of future engagements and bilateral exercises and emphasized United States’ commitment in strengthening the relationship between the two countries and maintaining peace and stability in the region while improving interoperability to respond to crises and contingencies.
