MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno annunced that the old building of Ospital ng Maynila will be turned into the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Medicine and Allied Health Services.
Moreno said that he signed the deed of donation, coinciding with the 55th year anniversary of the PLM.
The said deed formally turns over the said old hospital building to the PLM.
It will be recalled that earlier on, Moreno vowed to turn the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila into a world-class hospital.
Moreno also promised early on to convert the old OM building into a new campus for the PLM.
With the new added facility for PLM, Moreno said the city will now be able to accept more students for various courses.
The mayor said this is because the PLM main campus in Intramuros will now have a vacant building once the College of Medicine moves out.
The move, he added, is in preparation for the swift and continuing increase in the student population of the PLM and the entire city as well.
Moreno and Vice Mayor, now Mayor-Elect Honey Lacuna, are slated to inaugurate the New Ospital ng Maynila on June 24, to mark the occasion of the city’s 450th Founding Anniversary.
The state-of-the-art Bagong Ospital ng Maynila has a 384-bed capacity, 12 intensive care units and 20 private rooms, as well as other amenities such as the three-storey parking building and a helipad, among others. Its emergency room has 30 beds in all and the entire hospital will be fully-airconditoned once it begins full operations. (Baby Cuevas)
