MAYOR LACUNA TO DAD, MAYOR ISKO AND MANILANS — “I WON’T FAIL YOU”

eMANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna has promised her dad, former Manila Vice Mayor Danny Lacuna and Mayor Isko Moreno that she will not fail them, even as she offered her success to her dad.

Lacuna, whose full name is Maria Sheilah Lacuna-Pangan, made the vow in her speech which she delivered after taking her oath of office that was administered by Moreno himself, inside the historic Manila Cathedral as the 23rd mayor of Manila. Marvin ‘Yul Servo’ Nieto, who was Lacuna’s runningmate in the May elections, was also inaugurated in the same venue as the new vice mayor of Manila.

The first lady mayor of the country’s capital city also expressed special gratitude to Vice Mayor Danny and Moreno whom she said did not only serve her inspiration for the kind of public service they gave to the city but also for having helped shape her political career.

Promise, I will make you very proud of me.”

She also thanked her mother, Inday, whom she said did not only serve as their mother but moreso, as a pillar and source of strength for their whole family.

The new mayor particularly expressed gratitude to Moreno whom she said always treated her as a working partner and never made her felt like a mere spare tire.

Hinayaan niya akong magningning sa aking pagiging isang doktora, lalo na sa pandemya,” Lacuna stressed, as she vowed to continue all the meaningful programs that their tandem put in place in Manila

Meanwhile, Lacuna also thanked her husband, Manila Health Department chief Dr. Poks Pangan and daughter Lucia, from whom she draws her strength to fulfill her aspirations for Manilans and this early, asked for their understanding and readiness to sacrifice as she fulfills her duties as chief executive of the city.

Lacuna likewise cited her siblings, Councilor Philip, Dennis, Liza and Liga ng Barangay president Lei, for consistently being there when she needs them, along with the volunteer groups who have been helping her throughout her career. (Baby Cuevas)
