MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday bade farewell to city officials and employes with a call for them to support the incoming new administration of Mayor-Elect Honey Lacuna and that of President Bongbong Marcos, Jr.
“Maraming salamat at tinulungan nyo ko na maglingkod nang maayos upang maging mapanatag at maayos ang Maynila. Marami pang hamon. Kung ano ang dedikasyong ibinigay nyo sa akin para sa mga bagay na tinahak natin sa loob ng tatlong taon, buong-kababang loob akong nakikisuyo na gawin nyo din sa pamumuno ni Honey bilang mayor,” Moreno said at the last flag-raising ceremony he attended as mayor. His term ends on June 30, during which Lacuna takes over as the new mayor.
Moreno added: “I believe that Honey also loves each and everyone of you kaya pumanatag kayo, kayang-kaya niyang gampanan ang pagiging mayor. I beleive in her, the people believe in her and we must help and support our incoming mayor.”
Moreno likewise called on the city officials and employees to also help the national government in any way possible, for it to succeed.
“Tumulong din kayo sa national government. We must not pray for government to fail. ‘Wag nating ipanalanging bumagsak dahil tayo din ang mahihrapan,” he said.
Moreno also assured Manilans that he will continue to be there for them as an ordinary citizen.
He took a bow as he thanked all those present for all the help that they extended which led, to the success of the administration that he and Lacuna led for the past three years.
“Sa mga itinulong nyo at pagtitiwala, maraming salamat. We must go on and continue.. itaguyod natin ang Maynila at ang mga Batang Maynila,” Moreno said.
The mayor also commended Justice Abad Santos General Hospital Director Dr. Merle Sacdalan and her staff who hosted the flag-raising ceremony and who offered a dance number for Moreno and Lacuna.
Moreno likewise cited the huge contribution of the Manila Health Department headed by Dr. Poks Pangan and assistant chief Dr. Ed Santos specially in fighting COVID-19, saying his administration would not have succeeded without the help of the medical frontliners.
The department of public services (DPS) headed by Kenneth Amurao as its chief was also praised by Moreno for their efforts in keeping the city clean at all times, with special mention of those who are in charge of declogging sewers and pipes.
“Puwede na maglakad sa ibabaw sa dami ng solid materials from creeks. Dun sa mga sumusuong sa imburnal, proud ako sa inyong lahat, mahirap sumipsip ng imburnal at lumusong sa dagat ng basura but they did it,” said Moreno. (Baby Cuevas)
