MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno assured the parents of students from the two city-run universities, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and the Universidad de Manila, that their welfare is the city government’s top concern.
Moreno gave the assurance that he will not allow the students nor the premises of the said universities to be used for political activities that may lead to chaos.
In his capital report, Moreno said he has directed the heads of the said two universities to focus on giving the best kind of education possible to their students.
Sa mga magulang na nag-aaral ang kanilang anak sa PLM at UDM, pumanatag kayo. Ako po ay nag-abiso na, na hindi pwede basta-basta sumama sa kaguluhan na binabalak ng iilan… ‘yung mga pinaplano nila,” Moreno said.
The mayor added: “We have to move on with our lives and support the next government. We have to as citizens, bilang mamamayan, kailangan tayong magtulungan.”
It will be recalled that Moreno had issued an order requiring permits for any rally in Manila after conceding and asking his supporters to move on and don’t engage in protest rallies.
“Sa mga nanay, tatay, lolo at lola, pumanatag kayo dahil kami po ay binabantayan namin maige. Educational institutions must provide good, quality education. ‘Yun ang aming obligasyon sa inyong mga anak at ‘yan ay tutupdin ng mga opisyales at teacher because that is our job,” Moreno said.
