MAYOR HONEY WANTS MORE MANPOWER, VISIBILITY AND POLICE ASSISTANCE DESKS FOR SCHOOL OPENING

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna has requested the Manila Police District (MPD) to make sure there is enough manpower and police visibility in time for the opening of classes on August 22, 2022, as well as police assistance desks in schools.

Lacuna said this during a meeting with newly-installed Manila Police District (MPD) Director, PBGen. Andre Perez Dizon and his officers, held at the oval room of the mayor’s office.

On the said occasion, Lacuna stressed the importance of keeping the students safe at all times and that they have someone instantly there to run to, when needed.

The lady mayor also suggested that the 79 police assistance desks that will be put up in the various public elementary and high schools as well as colleges and universities within the city of Manila be increased.

It was learned from Lacuna that the city of Manila has 107 public elementary and high schools alone.

This is apart from the number of colleges and universities a big concentration of which is at the so-called University Belt Area in Recto.

Lacuna also put emphasis on protecting the students against all forms of vices, specially illegal drugs and from criminal elements who may prey on them.

The MPD, in its action plan presented to Lacuna, stated that 408 policemen will be deployed in Manila on the opening of face-to-face classes.

Currently, there is a total of 215 learning institutions spread all over the city. (Baby Cuevas)
