MAYOR HONEY APPEALS TO MANILANS — LOVE YOUR ELDERS

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna made this appeal to all residents, specially the youngsters, as she also announced the updated release of the monthly financial aid that the city government had been giving to the elderly citizens of the city, as it joins the nation in celebrating the Filipino Elderly Week this month.

The first week of October had been declared as the Elderly Filipino Week, under Presidential Proclamation No. 470, s. 1994 in honor of the significant role and contributions of our elderly to the society.

Lacuna said that on Monday, the city government already began forwarding to the barangay chairmen and treasurer of District 1 the funds for the senior citizens’ monthly allowance for the months of May to August 2022.

With P500 cash aid per month, each senior citizen will be receiving P2,000 each, covering the said four months.

The mayor said that the distribution of the updated monthly allowances for the senior citizens for Districts 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will automatically follow .

She also called on the residents of the city to take good care of their parents and grandparents at all times.

Lacuna assured that the city government is also doing everything possible to care for its elderly citizens.

Apart from the continuous vaccination of senior citizens through the efforts of the Manila Health Department headed by Dr. Poks Pangan, the office of the senior citizens’ affairs or OSCA is also providing bread and milk for those who are applying for senior citizen cards or IDs at the OSCA office, Lacuna said.

“Asahan po ninyo ang patuloy na pagkalinga at pagmamahal na ipadarama natin sa Maynila para sa lahat ng ating nakatatandang Manilenyo. Muli po, happy mga minamahal naming nanay tatay lolo at lola. Mabuhay!,” Lacuna added. (Baby Cuevas)
