Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna issued an Executive Order declaring every Friday of the week as cleanup day in the city of Manila.
In the said EO, all departments, offices and bureaus under the Manila local government are enjoined to tidy up their areas of jurisdiction.
The new mayor said all barangays and heads of police stations are also called upon to keep their surroundings clean and free from eyesores.
These include trash, illegally-parked vehicles both private and public utility and even vendors who cross the line of up to where they are allowed.
Lacuna also thanked those who took it upon themselves to clean up their surroundings even before she went around city hall offices over the weekend.
She noted that even some center islands and barricades have now become vending areas so that he asked the police to keep the vendors only in the areas where they legally allowed by the city.
Lacuna said there is no ‘zero vendor’ policy contrary to fake reports and instead, the vendors are allowed but only based on the existing policy and in places already designated for them these past years. (Baby Cuevas)
