MAYOR Isko Moreno thanked the members of the Chinese-Filipino community for giving Manila another Instagrammable spot.
Moreno, joined by Vice Mayor-elect Yul Servo, led the inauguration and unveiling of marker and turnover ceremony of China-Philippines Friendship Park North and South viewing platforms. Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Huan Xilian also graced the event.
The platform, which faces Pasig River, is located near the tail end of the newly-inaugurated bridge that connects Binondo to Intramuros.
The mayor thanked the members of the Chinese-Filipino organizations who heeded his earlier request to have a view deck placed in the said area so that the public may get a good view and appreciation of the beauty of the new Binondo-Intramuros Friendship Bridge offers.
“Sabi ko, mukhang maganda ang bridge na lagyan ng viewing deck so that the passersby will continue to appreciate the beauty of the bridge. May bago na naman kayong (Instagrammable) spot,” said Moreno.
The mayor said the bridge and the view deck are testaments to the continued good relations between the Philippines and its neighboring country China.
“May this be a symbol of continuing friendship and to our fellow Chinese-Filipinos who continue to stay and who returned to the city, let me assure you that no harm will come to you,” he said.
Moreno expressed gratitude to those who invested and put their trust in his administration.
He recalled that when he assumed office in 2019, he asked the Chinese-Filipino community to give the city of Manila another chance, after they underwent bad experiences before his term.
“Thank you for giving us another chance to rebuild and for believing in me. I hope we did not fail you,” Moreno said. (Baby Cuevas)
