A city-wide motorcade was held by Manila Mayor-elect Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor-elect Yul Servo to express their gratitude to the citizens of Manila who handed them an overwhelming victory in the recently-concluded elections.
The tandem led by wide margin against their respective opponents, even as their entire slate in the Congressional race made it, along with 34 out of 36 candidates for Councilor.
The other two who got in, though not from the same party, happen to be allies of their local party Asenso Manileno who were simply not accommodated due to the limitations in the number of candidates that can be taken in the ticket.
During their motorcade, Lacuna and Servo were very warmly received by the residents who trooped out in the streets to greet, take pictures and get a glimpse of them.
The most number of residents that welcomed the motorcade came from the two districts of Tondo, said to be bailiwick of the clan of Alex Lopez who lost to Lacuna.
Lacuna and Servo expressed their heartfelt thanks to Manilans for the trust given to them and vowed that they would provide them the best possible care.
They also thanked Mayor Isko Moreno for the trust reposed in them as the best team to succeed his term in Manila.
Lacuna led by about 300,000 votes against Lopez and also beat former Congressman Amado Bagatsing. (Baby Cuevas)
