HEALTH PROGRAMS MAYOR HONEY’S PRIORITY IN FIRST 100 DAYS

HEALTH programs will remain a priority of Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna specially during her first 100 days.

The first lady mayor said that as a doctor herself, she believes that ‘health is wealth’ and that a healthy population will better ensure progress for any city.

“Mapalad akong maging Punong Lungsod kasunod ni Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, dahil nakasama niya ako sa paglalatag ng mga makabuluhang programa para sa mga Manilenyo. Nabigyan ng kaukulang atensyon at akmang solusyon ang mga pangunahing suliranin ng ating lungsod, sa kabila nang kinaharap pa natin ang pinaka-mapanghamong krisis pangkalusugan na hatid ng COVID,” she said.

Lacuna said that focus will be given to further strengthening the city government’s capability to deliver quality health services pursuant to the guidelines set by the Universal Health Care Act.

The mayor said she has directed the Manila Health Department headed by Dr. Poks Pangan to immediately identify possible problem areas and proposed solutions when it comes to the city’s healthcare services.

The same directive was also given to the directors of the six city-run hospitals, in an effort to immediately address the problems specially when it comes to needed funding.

Lacuna also announced plans to build super health centers that would provide complete basic laboratory tests, portable x-ray, ECG machine and other facilities, to make them more accessible to the residents.

This way, she said, there would be no more need to go to the city hospitals if they need said services, thus saving on precious time and transportation money which they can be used for other basic needs. (BABY CUEVAS)
