SOON, one has to have gotten at least one booster shot, or a total of three vaccines, in order to be considered as fully vaccinated.
This was announced by Mayor Honey Lacuna, as she once again appealed to the residents of Manila who belong to the eligible population to already get their booster shots.
Lacuna bared that the matter was among those tackled during the meeting of metro mayors with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, adding that the announcement about the said issue may be made in the coming days or weeks.
“Sa susunod, kailangang may 1st booster shot ka na, para sabihing fully vaccinated,” Lacuna said.
In view of this, he urged all residents of Manila to help the national government succeed in its aim of getting as many as possible to take their booster shots during the first 100 days of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
“Makipagtulungan po tayo sa national government, sa panawagan ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na sa loob ng 100 days ‘yung ni-launch na “Pinaslakas” vaccination na nakatuon sa booster, sana ay madagdagan ang nagpapa-booster lalo na ‘yung first booster,” Lacuna said.
Lacuna, who also happens to be a doctor, underscored the importance of the booster shots as added protection.
“Kahit anong bakuna, kahit paano ay me perio kung gaano sila ka-epektibo.Kung hindi kailangan ang booster shots ay bakit kayo hinihikayat?,” she said.
The mayor added that as time goes by, the efficacy of the last vaccine taken inevitably wanes, making the booster shots necessary.
Sadly, Lacuna notes, only 49 percent of those eligible in the National Capital Region have been administered booster shots.
In Manila, Lacuna said primary and booster shots continue to be given in the city’s health centers, city-run hospitals and designated shopping malls.
The ‘open policy’ also remains, meaning even those not residing in Manila may be administered the vaccines, should they choose to. (Baby Cuevas)
