Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna appealed to the city’s residents who have businesses in the city to avail of the extension for paying renewal or new business permits and not to do so on the last day.
“Ako po ay nakikisuyo sa ating taxpayers na sana ay huwag naman ninyong intayin ang huling araw nang kayo rin po ay hindi nahihirapan, dahil talaga pong mas matatagalan po kayo,” Lacuna said, as she noted that during the original deadline on January 20, taxpayers came in droves to beat the deadline.
According to Lacuna, the deadline was extended to February 3, 2023 but called on business owners in Manila to avoid the last minute rush in paying for the renewal of their business permits or application for new ones.
Lacuna also thanked the Manila City Council headed by Vice Mayor Yul Servo as its presiding officer for having passed the enabling ordinance for the said extension, as well as the employes of the city treasurer’s office headed by Jasmin Talegon, the permits bureau under chief Levi Facundo, electronic data processing headed by Fortune Palileo and the Manila Health Department under its chief Dr. Poks Pangan, among others. She cited that for the past few weeks, these offices and their employees have been assisting taxpayers who go to the Manila City Hall and satellite offices to pay their taxes.
The lady mayor also thanked the taxpayers, saying the city is in good fiscal condition because of them, as she expressed hope that the revenues of the city will continue to be good for the entire year again.
“Stop procrastinating and avoid the last minute rush,” Lacuna appealed to the residents. (Baby Cuevas)
