2,598 MANILANS AFFECTED BY ‘KARDING’ RECEIVE AID FROM MAYOR HONEY LACUNA

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila department of social welfare chief Re Fugoso personally handed over asisstance to the displaced families who were temporarily given shelter in the city’s evacuation centers and public schools.

It was learned that a total of 2,598 individuals who were housed at the various evacuation centers in the city and that they comprise the 653 families who live in different risk-prone areas during typhoons and who were evacuated even before typhoon ‘Karding’ hit the country on Sunday.

Fugoso said that apart from hot meals, the affected families also received a box of basic food items that include rice, canned products and coffee, among others.


Lacuna went around the evacuation centers to check on the condition of the evacuees and hand over some assistance.

She said that the city government is continuously monitoring the situation as long as the typhoon signal continues to be raised in the metro.


According to a summary report provided by spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante as of 2:15 a.m. of September 26, 2022, the Baseco Evacuation Center has 210 families or 777 individuals; Benigno Aquino Elementary School, 58 families from Baseco or 275 individuals; Corazon Aquino High School, 85 families from Baseco or 352 individuals; Atienza High School, 17 families or 86 individuals; BRGY 101 Covered Court,70 families or 238 individuals; Isabelo delos Reyes Elementary, 74 families from BGY 20 or 278 individuals; BRGY 105 Covered court, 63 families or 261 individuals; BRGY 128 BLDG 18, ten families or 43 individuals and Fugoso (DELPAN) covered court, 66 families from Bgy 275 or 288 individuals in all.
