Isang medical mission para sa mga babaeng bilanggo sa Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) sa Mandaluyong City ang idinaos ng Department of Justice (DOJ).
Sa pangunguna ni Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez katuwang ang ilang private at civil organizations, idinaos ang nasabing aktibidad dahil naniniwala umano ang DOJ na ang mga persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) ay entitled rin sa makataong pagtrato at serbisyo.
“We, at the DOJ, believe that these PDLs are not bad people. They are people who just made bad decisions in life. They are entitled to humane treatment and services with which they can reform and rejoin our communities as productive members,” ani Gutierrez.
Pinasalamatan nito ang mga organisasyon na tumulong sa nasabing meeicql mission.
Sinabi naman ni DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na sa pamamagitan ng medical mission ay nagkaloob sila ng libreng consultations, screenings, at access sa medical professionals para sa mga lady PDLs ng Correctional.
“This initiative goes beyond just providing healthcare; it promotes and restores the dignity of women behind bars. Justice can be delivered in the health and well-being of those in the walls of prison, as well,” ayon kay Remulla.
