In behalf of the officials, employees and residents of Manila, I express pride in the trust and confidence given by the national party Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), headed by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez Mayor, on the leadership of Mayor Honey Lacuna, which was validated when she was taken in by the said party as its newest member and with no less than the Speaker himself officiating the oath.
Mayor Honey’s having joined the biggest political party in Congress and the country is such a welcome development that will certainly benefit most of all, the residents of Manila who are assured that the programs lined up for them by the Lacuna administration will get a much-needed boost.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa tiwalang ibinigay nila at sa pagtanggap sa akin bilang bagong kasapi ng partidong LAKAS sa pamumuno ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez. Umaasa ako sa mga makabuluhang mga proyekto at programa na mapagtutulungan namin ng LAKAS para sa Lungsod ng Maynila na ikabubuti ng bawat Manileño,” the lady mayor said, adding that the principles and platform of the said party are aligned with hers and will ultimately be most gainful for all Manileños.
Apart from being president of the “Asenso Manileño”, the ruling local party in Manila, Mayor Honey also enjoys the continued confidence and full support of her Vice Mayor Yul Servo, five of the six Congressmen in Manila and a good majority of the Manila City Council members as well as sitting city officials.
In fact, when Mayor Honey took her oath as the newest LAKAS member, Rep. Joel R. Chua, Rep. Bienvenido Abante, Jr, Rep. Rolando Valeriano, Rep. Irwin Tieng and Rep. Edward Maceda, stood as witnesses, along with Vice Mayor Yul Servo, while also present during the simple rites held at the Social Hall of the Speaker’s Office in the House of Representatives were the Asenso Manileño councilors.
Always the humble type who looks at debt-of-gratitude as a valuable virtue, Mayor Honey did not forget to thank her allies as she stated, thus:“I am grateful to my partner, Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto, to our five Manila congressmen and the 21-strong majority councilors for their steadfast support and loyalty,”
It is also worthy to note that even the major stakeholders in the city are throwing their support for the efficient and honest leadership of Mayor Honey, as shown by the continous outpouring of support in various forms, to all the programs and endeavors of the city, the latest of which is the P30-million medical instruments donation and 235 units of 50-inch Smart TV sets from the ICTSI Foundation headed by business tycoon Enrique Razon, Jr..
This trust can largely be attributed to the fact that Mayor Honey is a decent and respectable leader. She is not the kind who would abuse any stakeholder by constantly asking for financial favors that would benefit her own pocket. She is also sincere and not the type who would project an image on social media which is a far cry from the real her.
Speaker Romualdez, in warmly welcoming Mayor Honey to the fold of Lakas-CMD, said his party is honored to have the lady mayor, expressing connfidence that she “would provide significant contributions in upholding the principles and objectives of Lakas-CMD, reinforcing the party’s dedication to serving the Filipino people.” He also cited her very able leadership, experience and commitment to serve her constituents and “greatly enhance our collective efforts to support the Agenda for Prosperity of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and his vision for ‘Bagong Pilipinas.’
Mayor Honey, he also notes, made history by becoming the first woman mayor in the city of Manila in 2022, winning with a very wide margin over her opponents who actually belong to big political clans in the city. In addition, the party she heads, Asenso Manileño, made a clean sweep by winning all elective seats from the mayor, vice mayor, Congressmen and city councilors during the 2022 elections, while Isko Moreno was busy campaigning for President which he lost, as we all know.

Belated happy birthday to First Lady Louise ‘Liza’ Araneta- Marcos, who celebrated her 65th birthday last August 21.
I am happy to note that the First Lady was born in Manila in 1959 to Manuel Araneta, Jr. and Milagros Cacho.
An advocate of education, culture and traditional arts and crafts, the First Lady is also known for having initiated the renovation of the old buildings at Malacañan Palace in Manila to transform them into new tourism assets of the Philippines.
Among her most notable projects include the “Lab for All” which provides free healthcare services; “Likha” which promotes local arts and crafts; the Maharlika Hangar and the Presidential Library.
The Philippines is lucky to have a hardworking First Lady like her. Kudos and belated happy birthday, First Lady Liza Marcos!!!
