Davao City Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte has been subpoenaed by the Senate Impeachment Court.
This is for the purpose of him testifying in the impeachment trial of his very own sister, Vice President Sara Duterte.
His testimony, if ever, will pertain to Article II of the Articles of Impeachment, which alleges unexplained wealth and truthful disclosure of assets on the part of the Vice President.
Mayor Baste is also expected to be questioned by the House prosecutors regarding business transactions between the Davao City government and Gencorp Industries Inc., A company listed in the Vice President’s declared business interests and SALN during the time that she served as mayor, before Baste took over.
According to the Prosecution panel, Mayor Baste will be strictly called in not as a respondent but as a witness with personal and official knowledge of local government transactions.
Should Mayor Baste agree, his scheduled attendance would be on September 23, 2026, based on the subpoena issued by Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero who presides over the impeachment trial.
