Kasunod ng ginawa nitong umano’y bastos na ‘joke’ habang nangangampanya nitong Abril 3, 2025, isang kandidato sa Pasig City ang Inisyuhan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ng show cause order (SCO).
Sa naturang order ay inaatasan ng Comelec si Atty. Christian Sia, na kandidato sa pagka-kongresista sa ikalawang distrito ng Pasig City, na magpaliwanag sa nagawang election offense at kung bakit hindi siya dapat na managot o madiskuwalipika sa halalan.
Siya ay binigyan lamang ng tatlong araw upang magpaliwanag.
“In view of the foregoing, you are hereby ordered to show cause in writing within a non-extendible period of three days from receipt hereof and to explain why a complaint for election offense and/or a petition for disqualification should not be filed against you,” saad ng show cause order.
“Failure on your part to comply with this Order shall be construed a waiver of your right to be heard and the filing of the appropriate case against you,” ayon pa rin sa kautusan na pirmado ni Director Sonia Bea Wee-Lozada, Head ng Task Force SAFE.
Napag-alaman na umaksyon ang Comelec ng ‘motu propio’ o kahit walang pormal na reklamo hinggil sa kumalat na video sa social media kaugnay ng binitiwang biro ni Sia sa isang campaign event nito.
“Ito ang ambag ko sa mga solo parent ng Pasig. Minsan sa isang taon, ang mga solo parent na babae na nireregla pa… at nalulungkot. Minsan sa isang taon, pwedeng sumiping ho sa akin,” ani Sia.
Ayon sa Comelec, posibleng maharap si Sia sa paglabag sa Comelec Resolution No.11116 Section 3 o Anti-Discrimination and Fair Campaigning Guidelines For Purposes of the 12 May 2025 National and Local Elections and BARMM Parliamentary Elections.
Bukod pa diyan ang paglabag sa Republic Act 7277 o Magna Carta of Women at RA 11313 o Safe Spaces Act, at Disrimination Against Women and gender-based harassment.
