The “Kalinga sa Maynila” forum being regularly carried out by Mayor Honey Lacuna along with fellow incumbents and members of the Asenso Manileno party is no mean feat.
In one of its most recent forums held in Tondo, a total of 1,367 transactions were processed.
Served during the said forum were residents from Rodriguez Street, Barangays 143, 144, and 145 Zone 12, Balut, Tondo, Manila, whose problems or concerns were varied.
In every such event or holding of the “Kalinga sa Maynila,” Mayor Honey would bring with her representatives from the various local government offices, departments and bureaus in City Hall, to immediately address the concerns of the residents attending the forum.
These include, among others, the ones that are most sought for by Manilans for help or assistance such as the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) represented by its adviser Dennis Viaje, city engineer’s office headed by Armand Andres, social welfare department head Re Fugoso, Manila Health Department Director Dr. Poks Pangan, Manila Police District represented by PBGen. Andre Dizon, Public Employment Services Office chief Fernan Bermejo, the Manila Barangay Bureau, the department of public services, Manila Civil Registrar’s Office, City Legal Office, Veterinary Inspection Board and the the Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs.
The forum being held by Mayor Honey and her team in the different areas of Manila is part of her numerous efforts to bring right to the communities the services being offered by the city government.
In the said regular fora, residents are given the chance to air their needs, suggestions and grievances straight to the mayor, who, in turn, will direct the said resident to whatever department, office or bureau his concern falls so it can be addressed at once.
In bringing with her the heads of the various departments, all queries, complaints or requests brought to the fore by the residents are addressed right there and then.
For Mayor Honey, it is the best way to bring to the communities the services available in the city government without having to spend for transportation or even battle the heat just to go to City Hall and seek for solution to their problems.
The mayor is aware that at times, those seeking help in City Hall do not know exactly how to go about it and end up going home without accomplishing anything. The latest addition to the things that the regular fora offer to the residents, by the way, is the on- the- spot or ‘service fair’ which also provides free medical consultation and a job fair, among others.
Still on the side, Mayor Honey also conducts free medical consultation, with free medicines being also provided in certain cases, under her “Door-to-Door Doktora program.”
She rides the motorcycle to be able to cover more Manila residents who are sickly, bedridden or simply in need of consultation or a helping hand.
Indeed, Manilans are very lucky to have a truly caring and workaholic mayor at the helm of the city. And she does all these without any fanfare.
With Mayor Honey heading the local government unit, we, her underlings, are too inspired to give our all in the name of service. Anything less would just be shameful.
