After its brief suspension due to the holding of the recently-concluded Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), the famous and much-awaited ‘Kalinga Sa Maynila’ has resumed to continue providing all the kinds of help that the residents of Manila may need.
A pet project of our beloved Mayor Honey Lacuna, the service-oriented “Kalinga sa Maynila” fora resumed in the populous first District of Manila in Tondo and covered a total of four barangays.
As usual, the meeting with barangays was highlighted by the ‘Ugnayan” portion wherein the residents are able and allowed to ask anything under the sun.
The “Kalinga sa Maynila” is a huge event being mounted by the Manila city government in barangays once or even sometimes twice a week, for the purpose of bringing the basic, essential services of the Manila City Hall directly to the people.
Highlighting each ‘Kalinga sa Maynila’ is an open forum where the residents are able to air their concerns and bring them straight to the mayor’s attention or the heads of the departments, bureaus and offices concerned, since the mayor also tags them along.
The lady mayor personally addresses all the questions herself. Either this or she calls on the head of the department, bureau or office to reply to the query himself or herself, in order to satisfy the resident throwing the questions.
Usually, the lady mayor brings heads of departments that are most sought by the residents whenever they go to the Manila City Hall.
The open forum is a freewheeling, no holds barred discussion where the residents are also allowed to rant and air their gripes and the fact that it is being aired live on Facebook goes to show that there is not way that the discussions are edited.
It also proves that Mayor Honey is willing and ready to listen to the residents and know exactly what happens to her city and its people so she can do her work to perfection.
Not only are the residents given the rare opportunity to mingle with Mayor Honey upclose and personal, they also get solutions to their problems outright, without having to spend time and transportation money when they go to City Hall just to inquire or seek help about anything.
In addition to all these, right outside the ‘Kalinga sa Maynila’ venue, there are always help desks put which the residents may approach for their various personal needs. Also accompanying every “Kalinga sa Maynila” forum is a job fair, a service fair, free medical consultation and free basic medicines.
Despite all these, Mayor Honey never rests. She continues to find ways to improve the free services and opportunities being offered in her regular for a.
Indeed, the residents of Manila are one lucky lot. They have a lady mayor who is very hard-working and truly cares for them and would give everything to provide for them.
While she is not into trumpeting all her accomplishments and the work she does for the people of Manila, the kind of services that the residents get speaks for itself.
