NANAWAGAN si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte para sa isang “bolder vision” at “urgent action” para tugunan ang banta sa kakapusan sa pagkukunan ng tubig sa Asia-Pacific region.
Sinabi ni Duterte na dapat, ang mga bansa ay mag-desisyon nang mahusay para sa benepisyo ng kasalukuyan at susunod na henerasyon.
Ang pahayag ni Duterte ay ginawa sa isang video message sa ginanap na Heads of States and Government Meeting sa ika 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit sa Kumamoto City.
“Excellencies, now is the time for bolder vision and urgent action. We need to decide wisely for ourselves and for future generations,” ayon kay Duterte.
“Water is universal, strategic and transformative. it has the ability to connect people and communities as well as defines relationships and determines the development trajectories,” dagdag pa ni Duterte.
Sinabi ni Duterte na sa kabila nang maraming tubig sa Pilipinas ay nanatiling hamon kung papaano magkakaroon ng universal access para sa mura, malinis at mapagkukunan ng tubig.
“This requires an urgent sense of community action in the region, an integrated and coherent policy and the resolve to create opportunities for investment and collaboration for technological solutions,”ani Duterte.
Binigyang-diin ni Duterte na upang matugunan ang hamon para sa mapapagkunan ng tubig, isinulong niya ang pagbuo ng “sustainable water management”, ang paggamit ng siyensiya sa “water resources generation” at climate resilient infrastructure at ang promosyon ng “sustainable management” ng mga kagubatan at watersheds.
