Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur – Despite the government’s call for a peaceful resolution- to surrender, some of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members are insisting to test the patience of the Bicolanos who are craving for genuine peace in the Region. As a result, another successful military operation occured in Masbate.
The 2nd Infantry Battalion and PNP scored anew and neutralized two members of terrorist in Cawayan, Masbate, 06:10 in the morning, today.
Lt. Col. Orlando Ramos Jr., Commander of 2IB, confirmed that one of the casualties was a leader of Militiang Bayan (MB), while the other one was a member of Platoon 1, Kilusang Larangan Guerilla 2, Komiteng Probinsiya 4 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee ( L2,KP4,BRPC)
Government forces captured one M653 rifle, one caliber 38 revolver, two back packs, one laptop and several terroristic propaganda materials.
BGen. Aldwine Almase, Commander of 903rd Infantry Brigade, again underscored the continuous and unwavering support of Masbateños to completely free the island from insurgents.
” Naniniwala po ako na dahil sa patuloy na suporta ng mga Masbateño sa tropa natin sa probinsya, lalo na ang mga opisyales ng mga komunidad ay mapapadali natin ang pagsugpo sa mga natitira pang armadong grupo”, BGen. Almase said.
Major General Alex Luna, Commander of 9th Infantry (SPEAR) Division and Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB), reiterated his call to the remaining CTG members to return to the folds of the law and grab the opportunity to be with their families this Christmas.
“Muli ko pong bibigyan ng diin ang aming panawagan sa mga natitira pang mga armado na samantalahin na nila ang pagkakataon upang magbalik loob sa gobyerno. Ayaw na po natin madagdagan pa ang bilang ng mga buhay na nawawala dahil sa walang kwentang pinaglalaban ‘nyo. Hindi ‘nyo (CTG) matatalo ang pwersa ng gobyerno sapagkat nasa panig na namin ang mga tao. Hihintayin kayo ng mga pamilya ninyo ngayong pasko.” MGen. Luna said.
It can be recalled that because of information given by the Bicolanos, last October 26, 2IB discovered terrorist’s training facility in Masbate, while the 83IB had an encounter in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur which resulted in the death of two rebels. Prior to these, last October 25, several High-powered firearms and anti-personnel mines were seized by government forces in Ragay. (VICTOR RUIZ BALDEMOR)
