Pormal nang binuksan ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ang kanilang Japan Employment Facilitation Desk (Japan Desk) sa Tokyo at Osaka, Japan.
Ang Japan Desk ay isang specialized unit na naglalayong i- streamline at ipasilidad ang deployment ng overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sa Japan, na isa sa mga key labor markets ng bansa.
“The creation of the Japan Desk is a testament to the strong labor market partnership between the Philippines and Japan,” ayon kay DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. Cacdac.
Dagdag pa niya, “We are committed to working with our Japanese counterparts to ensure that Filipino workers have access to safe, stable, and gainful employment opportunities in Japan.”
Sinabi ni Cacdac na ang Japan Desk ang siyang magiging responsable sa monitoring ng deployment at pagbalik ng mga OFWs sa Japan; pagpapatupad at pagpapasilidad ng compliance na may prescribed timeframes for actions sa Japanese documents, processes, at iba pang concerns; pagsisilbi ng focal unit para sa Japan concerns; at pagrekomenda sa rewards at incentives para sa Japanese principals at employers, Japan-registered vessels, at licensed PRAs (Philippine recruitment agencies) at manning agencies.
Anang DMW, ang pagtatatag ng Japan Desk ay senyales ng mahalagang milestone sa kasaysayan ng Philippine overseas employment.
Ito ay ‘first of its kind’ dahil nakapokus ito sa pagproseso at serbisyo ng iisang OFW host country.
Ang paglikha nito ay tumutupad sa commitment na ginawa ng yumaong si Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople noong Pebrero 2023 sa sidelines nang pagbisita ni Pang. Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr..
Nabatid na si Undersecretary for Policy and International Cooperation Patricia Yvonne “PY” M. Caunan ang siyang mamumuno sa Japan Desk.
