ITO ang ginawang pagtiyak kahapon ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla kaugnay sa pagwawakas ng ibinabang ultimatum para tugisin at ipatigil ang illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs).
Target ni Sec Remulla na pagpasok ng 2025 ay tahasan na niyang masasabi na POGO-free na ang Pilipinas at lahat ng lisensya ay kanselado na bilang pagtalima sa kautusan ni President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
“Ganito iyan, two parts iyan: All licenses are cancelled – so POGO-free tayo; guerilla operations will flourish but we will go after them. As per the President’s instructions, we will make it very difficult for them until they say that it is no longer worth operating in the Philippines,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Pagpasok umano ng bagong taon sa tulong ng Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, ng DILG, Philippine National Police (PNP) at mga local government units (LGUs) ay susuyuin ang mga ‘potential areas’ para tuluyan nang mawakasan ang illegal POGOs.
Aaatasan din umano ng DILG ang lahat ng mga local chief executives na i-report ang mga suspicious activities hinggil sa potential establishment ng POGOs sa kanilang nasasakupan sa gitna ng umiiral na total ban.
“Malalaman iyan sa spike bigla ng bandwidth use, entry of suspicious people congregating in houses not registered as businesses. So, they are enjoined to report immediately sa amin para malaman namin at makagawa kami ng aksiyon,” ani SILG.
Magugunitang ‘banned’ na ang lahat ng POGO operations sa Pilipinas kasunod ng utos ni PBBM sa kanyang ikatlong State of the Nation Address.
