Inilunsad ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang isang Human Rights Office (HRO) at Gender and Development Special Protection Office (GSPO).
Sinabi ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na layunin ng ginawang paglulunsad ng dalawang tanggapan na maikalat ang kaalaman kaugnay sa basic human rights sa ilalim ng Republic Act 9201.
Sa ilalim ng RA 9201 o National Human Rights Consciousness Week Act of 2002, may mandato,ang lahat ng ahensya ng gobyerno na itaas ang kaalaman nito mula Disyembre 4 hanggang 10.
“I can confidently say that this mandate will be fulfilled by the DOJ not only for a week, but the whole year round. It serves a clear call for human rights promotion and protection for the years to come,” ani Remulla.
Ang speech ni Remulla ay binasa ni Justice Undersecretary Brigido Dulay sa inagurasyon ng tanggapan.
