HALOS nasa limang milyong COVID-19 vaccine ang dumating sa bansa kahapon ,kasama ang 3,999,060 doses ng Pfizer-BioNTech na ipinagkaloob ng United States, ka-partner ang COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) facility.
Ito ang pinakamalaking single-day shipment ng Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine sa Pilipinas na bahagi ng tuloy tuloy na pagsuporta ng U.S sa pandaigdigang laban sa coronavirus at kanilang commitment sa sambayanang Filipino para mapanatiling ligtas at malusog ,ayon sa U.S Embassy in Manila. commitment to partner with the Philippine government to keep Filipinos healthy and safe.
Ang nasabing bakuna ay parte ng 1.2 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses na ipinagkakaloob ng U.S.at ipionamamahagi s apamamagitan ng COVAX, isang global initiative para masuportahan ang equitable access sa COVID-19 vaccines ng mga mahihirap na bansa.
Bunsod ng nasabing donasyon ay natupad na ng U.S. ang target ni President Joe Biden na makapaghatid ng 200 million doses sa kanilang mga partner countries sa, limang araw na mas maaga sa kanilang 100-day target.
Sa kasalukuyan ay nakapagbigay na ang U.S ng nasa 33.3 million COVID-19 vaccine doses. “We are immensely proud that our friends, partners, and allies in the Philippines are receiving this historic shipment. This significant donation underscores the United States’ commitment to continue working with our Philippine partners to combat COVID-19 even as we face serious challenges around the world,” pahayag ni U.S. Embassy in the Philippines Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) ad interim Heather Variava.
Also coinciding with this milestone is the anniversary of the first COVAX delivery of life-saving COVID-19 vaccines to the Philippines. The U.S. is the largest donor to COVAX, having donated $4 billion to help protect the most vulnerable and at-risk populations in 92 low- and middle-income countries. So far, the Philippines has received from COVAX a total of nearly 74 million vaccines doses, enough to vaccinate one in five Filipinos, ayon s ainilbas na pahayag ng embahada.
Bukod sa nasabing vaccine donations, ang U.S. government ay nakapagkaloob na rin ng mahigit Php1.9 billion ($39 million) ng COVID-19 assistance sa Pilipinas para masuportahan ang testing, crucial care, communication campaigns, protection at training ng mga health workers, vaccine deployment, at essential equipment and supplies.
Kahapon ay dumatin din sa bansa ang 1,167,660 doses ng Pfizer (Govt Procured thru World Bank) via DHL Express Flight LD 456.
Dahil dito, umaabot na sa 231,505,650 doses ang dumating na bakuna sa bansa. (VICTOR BALDEMOR)
