The Congressional hearings on Alice Guo, or “Guo Hua Ping”, have incited a well-deserved alarm over the alarming decay of our nation’s integrity.
They have exposed just how easily our government officials can be bought and corrupted, revealing a legal system so fragile that an outsider was brazenly allowed to become the mayor of a town. This isn’t just bending the law—it’s a disgraceful mockery of it.
In the said hearings, Guo Hua Ping has been anything but honest. Her testimony has been riddled with contradictions, particularly regarding her background and the questionable documents she presented to prove her alleged Filipino citizenship.
During the 6th Quad Committee hearing, Cong. Jinky Luistro brandished a damning piece of evidence: a printed material in Chinese, complete with a photo of the former mayor. It read, “Congratulations to the first Chinese mayor, Alice Leal Guo of Bamban.” First Chinese mayor? Are we seriously pretending this isn’t a national disgrace?
Public office is for Filipinos, period. This isn’t some innocent oversight—it’s a blatant manipulation of our electoral system. Guo Hua Ping wasn’t just an aberration; she became the first Chinese mayor. If the Quad Comm had not stepped in, we could have witnessed even more foreign officials infiltrating our government.
“I don’t remember” has become her pathetic catchphrase during the hearings, making it painfully obvious that she’s hiding a mountain of secrets. Illegal activities? Check. She’s a prime suspect in illegal gambling operations and is accused of qualified human trafficking, which are merely the tip of the iceberg. Her domain has been linked to kidnapping, torture, human trafficking and murder.
And it’s not just her. The Chinese seems to be in many aspects of Philippine life, from the West Philippine Sea to the Pharmally scandal and POGO operations.
Let’s not delude ourselves—Guo Hua Ping isn’t some oppressed figure or persecuted victim fighting for justice. If she truly cared about Filipinos, she would’ve respected our laws and found a legitimate way to serve.
Instead, she deceitfully wormed her way into office. Her claim that becoming mayor was a “childhood dream”? Please. She conveniently remembers that dream while forgetting critical details about her past, like where she went to school. Her story is riddled with holes, but we’re expected to swallow it whole?
Allowing foreigners like Guo into our government is a spit in the face of the very freedom our ancestors bled for. From FPRRD’s passive stance on the West Philippine Sea issue to their eager acceptance of Chinese investments and the proliferation of POGO operations, these moves are not made with the Filipino people in mind.
The growing Chinese influence infiltrating our electoral and governance systems poses the most dangerous threat to our sovereignty yet. How much longer are we going to sit back and watch?
