The Manila International Airport Authority under general manager Cesar Chiong commended airport employees for exemplifying honesty and integrity and setting a model for others to follow.
American passenger Terrance Alspach recovered USD 1,017 worth P55,237.85 that he dropped in the departure area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 while completing departure formalities to board his flight bound for Tokyo, Japan via ANA Airlines.
“This is a result of the collaboration of personnel from various agencies. Their actions not only helped the passenger who had lost his money but also upheld the reputation of NAIA as a whole. It is heartening to know that there are still people who prioritize doing the right thing, and their actions deserve our respect and recognition,” Chiong said.
A report said that a wheelchair attendant saw the unattended bills and alerted Aviation Security guard Mercy Pecson, who reached out to ANA Airlines, NAIA Terminal 3 Operations, and Airport Police Department (APD) for assistance.
Pecson explained, “Naabutan ko yung supervisor ng ANA Airlines, sabi niya may nakahulog daw ng pera… tapos tinawag ko yung naka-assign sa departure, si APO2 Ryan Dela Pena. Binilang ni Sir Dela Pena sa harap ng ANA Airlines Supervisor (Mr. Jon Manoto) at Operations (Ma’am Criselda Macaro) yung pera.”
“Apat kaming andoon kasama ako at si Sir Dela Pena, bago namin dinala sa APD para mag-request ng CCTV para makita kung sinong nakahulog. Naabutan namin doon si Lt. Galan at si Sir Fadriquela. After 30 mins, pinasa na yung picture nung Amerikano, si Mr. Terrence Alspach, flight NH280, ANA Airlines,” Pecson added. (JERRY S. TAN)
