OPISYAL nang manunukulan ngayon si Army Commanding General LtGen Romeo Brawner bilang bagong Armed Forces of the Philippine chief of Staff makaraang hirangin ni Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr para halinhan si General Andres Centino na itinalagang Presidential Adviser on West Philippine Sea.
Ayon kay Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro sa ginanap na press briefing na , suportado ng buong defense department at ng hukbong sandtahan ang appointment ni Ltgen Brawner.
“In the interest of an orderly transition his (President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.) choice for Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. was supported by the whole defense establishment together with (outgoing AFP chief) Gen. (Andres) Centino and myself,” ani sec Teodoro.
Si Gen. Centino ay itatalaga ng Pangulo bilang Presidential Adviser to the West Philippine Sea.
“The Armed Forces of the Philippines welcomes LtGen Romeo Brawner Jr as the new Chief of Staff AFP. The 145,000-strong AFP shall support the incoming CSAFP who has proven his sterling leadership and excellent performance of assigned tasks in the field of AFP operations, modernization and transformation, pahayag naman ni Col Medel Aguilar taga pagsalita ng Hukbong Sandatahan.
Ayon kay Centino layunin ng nasabing hakbang ng Pangulong Marcos ay upang matutukan ng husto ang suliranin sa West Philippine Sea.
Kinumpirma ni Centino na magkakaroon ng pag aaral at posibleng re-organisasyon National Task Force on West Philippine Sea sa layuning magkaroon ng collective approach hinggil sa sigalot sa South China Sea.
Partikular dito ang mga dapat sanang hakbangin na naisagawa para maiwasan sana tension sa nasabing area.
Si Brawner ay recipient ng ibat ibang military awards dahil sa kaniyang excellent performance.Bago siya naging Army chief, siya ang Commander ng 4th Infantry Division na naka base sa Cagayan de Oro City.
