Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. graced the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ)’s 124th Anniversary celebration just the otherday, at the BOQ Headquarters, Port Area, this city.
In his inspirational message during the event, Galvez highlighted the strong partnership between the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 and the BOQ, which became instrumental in protecting Filipinos against the deadly virus.
Among the interventions jointly carried out by NTF and the BOQ during the height of the pandemic included facilitating the safe return of Overseas Filipino Workers and members of the security sector to their hometown.
“The Bureau of Quarantine has been a strong, consistent and reliable partner, which stood by the national government’s side during the most challenging of times. and for this, the Filipino nation owes you a debt of gratitude,” Galvez said.
The BOQ, a line agency under the Department of Health which was founded in 1900, is mandated to ensure the nation’s security against the entry and spread of infectious diseases, emerging diseases and public health emergencies of international concern.
