A TOTAL of 25 Filipinos came home from the quake-torn Turkiye on Monday afternoon at the NAIA Terminal 3, comprising of 12 children and the rest adults, all of whom are women.
They were the first batch in the repatriation and were met and assisted upon arrival at the NAIA by representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) personnel Maria Regina Angela Galias and Ar-Jay Manuel Sanchez.
The Filipino repatriates shared their scary experiences with one of them saying her house was completely wrecked. The children who arrived were babies to teenagers and were accompanied by their mothers.
First to arrive was Christine Mon, 33, along with her children aged 5 and three. She had been in Turkey for the past five years and was inside their home with her kids when the earthquake struck at 4:30 a.m. during which electricity immediately went off, leaving their whole neighborhood in total darkness while it rained.
She took her children home to help them recover from the trauma which they continue to suffer. (JERRY S. TAN)
