Nineteen 19 parked vehicles were damaged by grassfire that hit the NAIA Terminal 3 parking extension on Monday.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Eric Ines rushed to the scene and said no one was reported hurt or injured. The incident started at 1:40 p.m. and was declared as ‘fire out’ at 1:57 p.m.

Ines said the MIAA will continue to be vigilant against the dry grassy areas in the airport complex and vowed that ‘the airport’s fire department is always on alert.”

Ines said that most of the vehicles may be owned by employees and that the grassfire quickly spread due to heat and strong winds affecting 18 vehicles that were severely burned and one partially burned.
