In a groundbreaking development, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) proudly announced they received an inspiring message of support from Bishop Noel Pantoja, National Director of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC).

This engagement marks a new era of hope and unity, as it aligns perfectly with NTF-ELCAC’s innovative whole-of-nation and whole-of-society approach, setting the stage for an unprecedented push towards peacebuilding, social justice, and development across the nation, said USec. Ernesto C. Torres Jr.Executive Director, National Secretariat NTF-ELCAC.

Embracing the PCEC’s influential network, spanning a myriad of Christian denominations and para-church organizations across the nation, this engagement is a beacon of unity, guiding us towards national healing and reconciliation, Usec Torres added

The Task Force recognizes the indispensable role of the religious community and diverse stakeholders in nurturing dialogue, empathy, and understanding, healing the wounds of conflict that have hindered the lives and aspirations of our beloved kababayans.Torres noted.

At the heart of this engagement is the NTF-ELCAC’s commitment to human rights and good governance. As a transformative force, the Task Force has played a crucial role in decisively ending the 55-year violent armed struggle of the CPP-NPA, ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity over the past five years.

Our multifaceted strategies aim to tackle the root causes of insurgency. The Barangay Development Program (BDP), a cornerstone initiative, is poised to revolutionize life in isolated communities with healthcare, education, livelihood projects, and other development initiatives, Usec Torres stated.

In this dynamic engagement with the churches, the NTF-ELCAC, can guide its present and future endeavors by integrating moral values and ethical teachings into all its interactions and policymaking mechanisms. Holistically encouraging solidarity and effective transformation to its stakeholders, particularly to former NPA members who wish to return back to the folds of the law.

The spiritual guidance which the church can provide to our former rebels will effectively assist them as they embark on a journey of reintegration as faithful and productive citizens of the country.

As we strive towards ending the five-decade-long insurgency of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in a peaceful and humane manner, we urge our fellow kababayans of diverse faith and religious organizations to join us in this noble cause. Together, let us collaborate and work hand in hand to sow the seeds of peace and development for the benefit of future generations of our Bagong Pilipinas, Usec Torres appealed.
