Si Enzo Pineda ang nakasungkit ng Best Actor trophy sa 11th Emirates Film Festival na ginanap sa Dubai.
Say ng aktor: “I feel very blessed and honored.”
Sa pelikulang “As the Call, So the Echo” na sinulat at dinirek ni Rusty Palacio Guarin nanalo si Enzo na idinerek ni Palacio, who also won as Best Director sa festival.
“Sa totoo lang hindi ko siya in-expect, because to begin with, based sa sinabi ng producer namin, we weren’t supposed to be part of this festival. Nagkataon lang, nabigyan kami ng pagkakataon to be part of this festival,” say ni Enzo.
In the movie, he plays a family man who does underground work for a syndicate that kidnaps children and sells their organs to interested buyers. The movie was shot in Quezon City and was intended to join international festivals.
“Tayong mga Pilipino, we really have the talent talaga and capability and do meaningful and international-quality projects. Nagkakataon lang, ang kulang is the opportunity, sometimes funding, sometimes connection. Hopefully, mapansin pa tayo ng buong mundo not just with acting but the quality of the projects that we are producing.”
Ito ang first international acting award na natanggap ni Enzo pagkatapos niyang manalo bilang Best Supporting Actor noong 2021 FAMAS sa “He Who is Without Sin.”
Ayon pa sa aktor, wala pang plano kung kailan ang local screening ng pelikula pero pupunta raw dito sa bansa ang Dubai-based producer this March para sa private screening ng pelikula.
