The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) in coordination with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1 confiscated some 10.5 kilos of duck and pork meat from China without necessary import and health permit.
BAI-NAIA head doctor Karen Grande said the 10.5 kilos of meat composed of 6.5 kilos of duck meat and 4 kilos of pork meat balls (check-in luggage) brought into the country by a Chinese passenger from Xiamen on board Xiamen Airlines flight MF-819 last Tuesday December 13, 2022 without necessary import and health permit when questioned by customs examiners at the counter.
Doctor Grande said their office still implementing the rules and regulation policy of “no import and no health permit will be confiscated at the port of entry. We are trying to protect our animal industry against the foot and mouth disease (FMD) from other countries. The said confiscated meat will be burned. (JERRY S. TAN)
