Kinumpirma ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na tinanggap niya ang posisyon bilang Solicitor General sa papasok na administrasyon ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos.Jr.
Nabatid na tinanggap ni Guevarra ang nominasyon matapos ang pakikipag pulong kay Marcos.
“10 years ago i was offered both the SOJ and OSG positions. Maybe the time wasn’t ripe then. Now everything’s coming back to me. It’s the hand of god at work. ecclesiastes,” ani Guevarra.
Sinabi rin ni Guevarra, kumpara sa pagiging Kalihim ng DOJ mas akma sa kanya ang posisyon ng isang OSG dahil may 25 tain na siyang nagsasanay sa law firm.
“The SOJ is very high-profile and has more administrative work, supervising many attached agencies. The solgen position, i thought, better suited me. because i had been in law firm practice for 25 years,”ayon pa kay Guevarra.
Nang tanungin si Guevarra kung mas magiging kontrobersiyal ang kanyang bagong posisyon dahil inatasan siya na iaulong ang ill gotten wealth cases at hindi nabayaran na estate tax ng mga Marcos pero ngayon ay itinalaga pa siya ni Marcos sa OSG .
“All of these are now in the courts. I intend to stick to the role of the OSG as the defender of the republic and tribune of the people,” dagdag ni Guevarra. (Carl Angelo)
