DND, PAF AND PHIL ARMY RECEIVE AWARDS

The Department of National Defense, Philippine Air Force and Philippine Army receives GADTimpala awards for outstanding Gender-Responsive Agency and Alagad awards.

In its bid to further promote gender and development (GAD) in the security sector, the Department of National Defense (DND) won silver and bronze awards during the GADtimpala 2023 Awarding Ceremony organized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) held at SM Aura Premier.

The DND, one of the 18 national government agencies recognized during the activity, was conferred the bronze award for “Outstanding Gender-Responsive Government Agency” and silver for its exemplary GAD Focal Point System (FPS).


Undersecretary of National Defense, Senior Undersecretary Irineo C. Espino, DND GAD-FPS Chairperson, together with the DND’s GAD FPS Technical Working Group led by Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Antonio L. Bautista, received the awards on behalf of the Department.

The Philippine Air Force was awarded by the Philippine Commission on Women with the GADtimpala SILVER for Outstanding Gender-Responsive Agency for its exemplary performance in gender mainstreaming and effective implementation of gender-responsive programs.


The PAF was likewise conferred with the ALAGAD BRONZE for Exemplary GAD Focal Point System in recognition of the dedicated officials and personnel comprising the PAF GAD Focal Point System, for being catalysts for gender mainstreaming leading to gender equality and the women empowerment.

The awarding ceremony was the highlight of the 14th Anniversary of the Magna Carta of Women held at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura, City of Taguig with the theme “MCW@14: Strengthening and Recognizing Government Gender Mainstreaming Initiatives towards Gender Equality.”


The GADtimpala Awards, in three categories: GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE, are given to government agencies that have demonstrated outstanding performance in gender mainstreaming.

The Commanding General, PAF, LTGEN STEPHEN P PARREÑO PAF along with the Chief of the Office of Air Force Gender and Development, COL MA CHERRY PIE M FERNANDEZ PAF (GSC) and the members of the PAF GAD Focal Point System Executive Committee received the awards.

The GADtimpala awards received by the PAF are testaments to its commitment to gender equality and equity, and its leadership among government agencies in gender mainstreaming.

While Philippine Army clinches two GADtimpala Bronze Awards from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) .

The PCW conferred two GADtimpala bronze awards for the Philippine Army as an Outstanding Gender-Responsive Agency for its exceptional performance in gender mainstreaming and effective implementation of gender-responsive programs and the exemplary GAD Focal Point System for catalyzing to promote gender equality in the whole organization.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido expressed his appreciation to the PCW on recognizing the Army’s efforts in promoting gender equality in the organization, “Our duty as Army goes beyond the battlefield, it extends to creating a workplace in our organization that truly reflects the values we uphold. It means that every soldier, regardless of gender, finds their value, and acknowledges their potential. They’re adaptive to the times, recognizing that progress and equality go hand in hand,” the Army chief said.
