Qatar Airways on Saturday (April 1,2023) has resumed flights to Davao International Airport (DIA)from Doha operating initially once a week every Saturday via Doha-Ceb-Dvo-Doha.

Flight QR 936(Doha-Cebu-Davao-Doha)arrived at Davao at 7:10 pm with 29 passengers via Cebu and departed 8:40 pm with 33 passengers. The airline last served the city in 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesman Eric Apolonio said the proposed expansion project for DIA’s terminal building amounting to Php 699,549,324.15 is targeted to begin by June this year and is set to be completed by June 2025.

DIA is now one of the nation’s busiest airports, catering to 251 domestic and 11 international flights weekly.

Apolonios said that with the influx of travelers transiting in the airport, the completion of these development projects are expected to allow the country’s aviation gateway to serve and accommodate more passengers at a given time. (JERRY S. TAN)
