The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is deeply concerned about the incident last 15 October 2022 at Davao International Airport where a 21-year old female vlogger from Zamboanga City was able to gain access to the airport terminal and other restricted areas by presenting a fake ID and boarding pass of an airline. We take such breaches in airport security very seriously and have taken immediate action to ensure that this does not happen again.
Immediately after the incident, CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the agency has coordinated with the appropriate authorities, such as the PNP-AVSEU and the Davao International Airport Authority (DIAA), to investigate the matter and take appropriate actions and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
Prior to the incident, on 11 October 2022, CAAP-DIA has already released an airport order (No. 2022-55) reiterating the compliance to security screening to those intending to enter the pre-departure area of the airport passenger terminal building by presenting their DIA Access Pass, Valid Boarding Pass, and/or Temporary Security Access Pass.
The immediate concerted action of the CAAP-DIA, DIAA, and PNP AVSEU has resulted in the arrest, detainment, and the filing of charges against the concerned vlogger. The case is still ongoing and we will continue to work with the authorities to ensure a proper conclusion to the issue.
“We would like to assure the public that the airport has beefed up its security measures to guarantee the safety and security of all passengers and airport personnel. The CAAP will continue to work with the airport management and law enforcement agencies to ensure that our airports remain safe and secure for everyone,” CAAP said in a statement.
