CAAP, PAL, Baguio City LGU meet for the reopening of Baguio (Loakan) Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) earlier today held a meeting with the local government unit (LGU) of the city of Baguio, along with the city tourism office and Philippine Airlines (PAL) for the reopening of the Baguio (Loakan) Airport for commercial operations.

CAAP Acting Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Acting Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun Lucas, PAL President and COO Stanley Ng, and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as well as other officials and staff joined the coordination meeting for the possible launching of flights to Baguio from Mactan, Cebu and vice versa.

The aviation authority is allocating funds for the rehabilitation of the airport’s passenger terminal building. The rehabilitation will also include the improvement of its instrument landing system (ILS) and runway extension by 100 meters. CAAP and the Baguio City LGU are targeting to resume the airport’s commercial operations by the end of the year. (Baby Cuevas)
